Elizabeth Richardson

Elizabeth Richardson is a regulatory policy and government affairs leader with a background of more than 10 years in the life sciences, medical technology, and FDA policy arenas. In her work with Canal Row clients, she brings experience developing actionable solutions to complex issues involving the regulation of innovative biomedical products, paired with an ability to engage effectively with agency and congressional policymakers and coalition partners. 

In her recent role leading health policy for Amazon’s Devices business, Ms. Richardson advised on regulation and legislation affecting a portfolio of FDA-regulated technologies spanning diagnostics, health AI, software as a medical device, and oncology, among others. She coordinated policy strategy, federal government relations, and trade association and advocacy organization partnerships to drive business priorities in alignment with the regulatory environment.

Prior to that, Ms. Richardson designed a comprehensive policy and advocacy strategy for Pew Charitable Trusts that was aimed at science-based FDA reform in the areas of diagnostics, biologics, and emerging technologies. Her testimony before the Senate HELP Committee informed bipartisan legislation on FDA modernization, and she led successful cross-sector advocacy efforts to modernize regulatory policy for diagnostics and dietary supplements. She previously managed two cooperative agreements with the FDA focused on strengthening regulatory science and policy and fostering biomedical innovation while working at the Duke-Robert J. Margolis Center for Health Policy and at The Brookings Institution Center for Health Policy. Ms. Richardson has also conducted research on U.S. and global health policy for The Urban Institute and the University of Edinburgh Center for International Public Health Policy.  

Ms. Richardson holds a MSc in Global Health and Public Policy from the University of Edinburgh and a B.A. from Wake Forest University.
